Restorative treatments

Restorative treatments return your teeth to a healthy state. Treatments include fillings, bridges, root canals, crowns, dental implants, and periodontal treatments.

White Fillings

There are many techniques available to restore a broken or decayed tooth using a tooth coloured filling material. Here at SW1 Dental Studio we use both composite and porcelain restorations (Inlays). Both these filling materials are matched to your own tooth colour. They are bonded by a special adhesive to your tooth, adding to the retention of the filling and sealing the tooth provided there is enough tooth enamel remaining.

Inlays/Onlays

Inlays and Onlay restorations are the best option! They are conservative, strong, very cosmetic, no shrinkage and no sensitivity from the tooth. It is ideal for the treatment of very large cavities and to replace old unsightly silver fillings. We can create porcelain restorations that revive the natural strength, wear, function and appearance of your teeth. With these new materials, it is possible to bond teeth back together, virtually restoring them back to the virgin strength without invasive techniques. It is an ideal option!

Crowns

A crown is a custom made covering placed over the top of your own natural tooth to restore it for both function and aesthetics. Crowns will greatly enhance the appearance of heavily filled, chipped, discoloured or irregularly shaped teeth. They are necessary after a tooth has had root canal treatment as these teeth are brittle and may fracture without a crown.

Many “crown” restorations are fabricated using a metal lining covered with porcelain. These types of restorations are not natural in appearance because they are opaque or flat looking, because they do not let light through as a natural tooth does. There is often a dark or grey line next to the gum-line. We provide exclusively all porcelain-bonded restorations. With our restorations you will notice the appearance of natural teeth again. Metal free dentistry can restore your full dentition back to natural form and beauty.

Bridges

A bridge is used as a permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth. It is a custom device anchored to neighbouring teeth that replaces one or more missing teeth. The teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic (replacement) tooth in place. A bridge is both aesthetic and functional, restoring your natural bite and preventing unwanted movement of the adjacent teeth and over eruption of the opposing tooth. Crowns and Bridges are most commonly prepared from high quality materials such as semiprecious or precious metals, porcelain, or a fused combination of the two. Aesthetics, function and tissue compatibility are considered when selecting the material most suitable for you.

Root Canal treatment

Extensive decay, an accident, tooth fracture, or gum disease can kill teeth and cause root canal symptoms such as pain or a dental abscess. However, regardless of the tooth canal cause, your teeth can be saved using modern techniques to perform root canal treatment.

Dentures

Complete or partial dentures are used when some or all of your teeth are missing – dentures or partials are designed to work as well as your natural teeth.
